Cold after ovulation
What is post-ovulation cold?
Postovulation coldness refers to the phenomenon that a woman's body temperature gradually drops within a few days after the end of her menstrual cycle. Typically, a woman's body temperature begins to rise on a certain day of her menstrual cycle, reaches its highest level on that day, and then gradually decreases. This process is called hyperthermia.
However, the rate at which a woman's body temperature drops during the post-ovulatory cold period may vary. Some women may experience a drop in body temperature of 0.5°C to 1°C over a few days, while others may experience a drop of more than 1.5°C.
Why does post-ovulation cold occur?
The occurrence of post-ovulation cold is caused by hormonal changes in the female body. During the menstrual cycle, a woman's body secretes a hormone called estrogen, which increases her body temperature. After ovulation, estrogen secretion begins to decrease, causing a woman's body temperature to gradually drop.
